Position Summary
The Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) serves as a strategic technology advisor for our Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients. The vCIO works closely with client leadership teams to align IT strategies with business objectives, ensuring technology is a driver for growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Planning & Roadmapping
- Develop multi-year IT roadmaps tailored to client business needs.
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to evaluate progress and adapt strategies.
- Align technology initiatives with client goals, budgets, and timelines.
• Technology Leadership
- Provide CIO-level consulting services for clients without a dedicated CIO.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive teams on IT investments and priorities.
- Recommend emerging technologies to foster innovation and competitive advantage.
• IT Governance & Risk Management
- Oversee IT policies, compliance, and security frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2, etc.).
- Conduct technology alignment assessments to identify risks and improvement areas.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Budgeting & Vendor Management
- Design and manage client IT budgets ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI.
- Negotiate with vendors and service providers on behalf of clients.
- Monitor vendor performance to meet SLA and business expectations.
• Cybersecurity Oversight
- Advise on security posture improvements and recommend tools for protection.
- Review and oversee implementation of backup, recovery, and endpoint security strategies.
Requirements
• Proven experience in IT leadership, preferably as a CIO, IT Director, or senior technical consultant.
• Strong understanding of MSP business models and managed services delivery.
• Expertise in cloud services, cybersecurity, compliance frameworks, and infrastructure management.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.
• Strong vendor management and negotiation experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
