What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Compassionate Innovations?
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting
- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Implement individualized care plans and behavior support plans
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals to promote their independence and well-being
- Document and report any changes in individuals' health or behavior to the appropriate supervisor
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care
Experience:
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is highly desirable but not required
- Knowledge of resident rights and HIPAA regulations is preferred
- First aid certification is a plus
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families, and other staff members
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations
- Strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges that may arise during the course of providing care
- Empathy and compassion towards individuals with developmental disabilities
