Position Overview:
The Executive Director (RN) serves as the chief operational leader of the agency, responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, financial performance, and compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires a Florida-licensed Registered Nurse with strong leadership, financial acumen, and home health management experience, in compliance with Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) requirements and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Administration
- Direct and oversee all operations of the home health agency in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 400 Part III and Florida Administrative Code 59A-8.
- Develop, implement, and monitor agency policies and procedures.
- Maintain communication with the governing body regarding agency performance, compliance, and strategic planning.
- Ensure the designation and documentation of an alternate administrator during absences, per Florida regulation.
Clinical Oversight
- Ensure patient care services are provided in compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and Florida home health rules.
- Supervise clinical leadership, including the Director of Nursing, therapy supervisors, and clinical managers.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of patient care plans.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all services meet AHCA, CMS, OSHA, and HIPAA standards.
- Prepare for and participate in AHCA and CMS surveys and inspections.
- Maintain agency licensure and Medicare certification requirements.
Human Resources & Staffing
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate clinical and administrative staff.
- Oversee staff orientation, in-service training, and competency evaluations.
- Ensure all staff credentials, licenses, and training are current and documented.
Financial & Business Management
- Develop and manage the agency budget to ensure financial sustainability.
- Monitor profit and loss (P&L) statements monthly to track revenue, expenses, and profitability.
- Lead monthly financial review meetings with department heads to address budget variances and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
- Collaborate with billing, payroll, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Identify and implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality patient care.
Community & Business Development
- Represent the agency in the community and with referral sources.
- Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Support marketing initiatives and growth strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or healthcare administration preferred.
- Licensure:
- Current, active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or administrative experience in a Medicare-certified home health agency.
- Experience reviewing and managing P&L statements and conducting financial performance meetings.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Florida home health regulations and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and drive financial performance.
- Proficiency in home health EMR systems (e.g., Kinnser, Axxess, WellSky) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Other Requirements:
- Level 2 background screening clearance per Florida law.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel locally as needed for patient care oversight or meetings.
