Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Billing Specialist is responsible for completing daily tasks pertaining to billing for provider services and managing accounts receivables. Billing Specialists may also perform other duties across the organization as their skills and training permit and may be cross trained in other areas to accomplish operational objectives. This is an onsite-only position; remote work is not available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for a variety of duties related to the billing functions which includes being responsible for auditing provider charges, coding of medical services, posting personal payments, and managing the Sliding Fee program. Working claims and denials, collecting overdue payments, and making sure patients are on a payment plan as needed. Working with front desk to help solve insurance verification issues, and ensuring payments are collected. Special projects as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Manager. Position may cross train to run e-Clinical month end reports and perform credentialing duties.
- Audits provider charges each day and verifies diagnosis codes, etc. are properly utilized
- Post personal payments and provides receipts according to Compassion Health Care protocols
- Manages the Sliding Fee program
- Explains the Sliding Fee program to patients
- Assist patients with enrollment process for Sliding Fee
- Maintains database of Sliding Fee patients and sends correspondence as needed
Education/Experience:
High school diploma required. Training and/or certification in medical office coding, and/or medical office billing experience is preferred.
If the individual in this position will routinely perform duties listed that require driving, they will be required to maintain a valid drivers license and meet criteria established in CHC policy pertaining to employee drivers.
Required Skills:
Basic knowledge of insurance billing, excellent communication and customer service skills, and computer proficiency and knowledge of electronic medical records systems are required.
Please note before applying: This position is Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays. The work setting is in family practice located in Yanceyville, NC. This is an onsite-only position; remote work is not available.
The selected candidate must meet Compassion Health Care's employment eligibility requirements, including but not limited to, successfully completing pre-employment drug testing and criminal background screening.
