Medical Director (Psychiatry)

PMHNP-BC or Psychiatrist (MD/DO)

Compass of Hope is seeking a highly experienced, ethical, and clinically strong psychiatric provider to serve as our Medical Director. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced PMHNP-BC or Psychiatrist (MD/DO) who is passionate about maintaining high standards of psychiatric care while mentoring providers and strengthening clinical systems.

The Medical Director will maintain a patient caseload while providing leadership and quality oversight across Compass of Hope’s medical services, including psychiatric medication management, Spravato® and ketamine services, GLP-1 treatment, and clinical review of FMLA and Emotional Support Animal (ESA) documentation requests.

This position requires regular presence at both our Hooksett and Hampton, NH offices to ensure providers and medical staff have accessible, consistent leadership and support.

Key Responsibilities

Medical & Clinical Leadership

  • Provide clinical leadership and quality oversight for Compass of Hope’s medical department.
  • Maintain a direct patient caseload and provide high-quality psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
  • Establish and uphold clear standards for safe, ethical, evidence-based prescribing.
  • Provide oversight of psychiatric medication management, Spravato®, ketamine, GLP-1 services, and other medical programs offered by the practice.
  • Review and provide clinical guidance regarding FMLA, ESA, and other medically related documentation requests.
  • Identify clinical, prescribing, documentation, or workflow concerns and intervene proactively when standards are not being met.

Provider Development & Support

  • Provide mentorship, consultation, and clinical guidance to PMHNPs, with particular attention to supporting newly licensed providers as they develop confidence, judgment, and independence.
  • Be available to providers for consultation regarding complex cases, medication decisions, risk management, and other clinical concerns.
  • Promote a culture in which providers can seek consultation while remaining accountable to high standards of practice.
  • Assist leadership with evaluating provider performance and identifying opportunities for additional training, supervision, or corrective action when appropriate.

Medication & Quality Oversight

  • Oversee systems for monitoring prescribing practices, including controlled substances and other higher-risk medications.
  • Support appropriate tracking and accountability related to medication inventory, receipt, storage, administration, and documentation when applicable.
  • Conduct or oversee periodic reviews of prescribing patterns, documentation, follow-up practices, and adherence to established clinical protocols.
  • Ensure medical services are delivered in accordance with applicable professional standards, regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies.

Policy, Compliance & Operations

  • Partner with executive leadership to develop, review, implement, and enforce medical policies and procedures.
  • Help translate clinical standards and regulatory requirements into clear, practical workflows for providers and medical staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in addressing clinical or operational concerns within the medical department.
  • Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership to continuously improve patient safety, provider performance, and quality of care.
