What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-Office Processor/Phlebotomist position at Compass Laboratory Services?
Summary
The In Office Processor/Phlebotomist will follow instructions for the proper handling of all specimens. He/she will process the samples for transport to the laboratory in a timely manner.
Essential Functions

- Must follow all Specimen Processor Agreement and Procedure Manual directives.
- Will properly identify specimens.
- Will follow instructions to correctly fill out requisition form.
- Will make sure that specimens are shipped to the laboratory in a timely fashion.
- Communicate to the IOP Manager for any issues related to time & attendance or operational questions within the client location.
- Be friendly, and courteous to office staff.
- Will properly label urine specimens. Correctly and completely fill out requisition forms with the required information.
- Keep work area clean and organized at all times.
- Will greet and properly identify patients and verify test orders.
- Will follow instructions to correctly perform venipunctures, while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
- Maintain a safe work environment for his or herself and the patients by following all safety precautions outlined in the Procedure Manual, which includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Will properly label, centrifuge when needed, aliquot, store, and transport all samples according to the Procedure Manual. Verify all requisition forms are completed with the required information.
- Immediately clean and disinfect area upon contamination and before leaving the facility

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This role works in a physician’s office, as a Compass employee, processing specimens to be sent to the laboratory.
Position Type
This can be a full-time or part-time position.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- Phlebotomy Certificate
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a friendly and courteous rapport with office staff
- Ability to maintain attention to detail
- The Compass processor will ONLY perform work for Compass Laboratory Services.
