The Janitor plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment at Compass Health’s MARC Healing Center. This position ensures that all areas of the facility — including common areas, offices, patient rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and meeting spaces — are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards.
The Janitor supports overall facility operations through efficient cleaning, waste management (including hazardous waste), and collaboration with the Building Maintenance team to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff, clients, and visitors.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and waste removal.
Replenish supplies and clean/disinfect surfaces, equipment, vents, and fixtures.
Maintain floors, carpets, and windows as assigned.
Pick up litter and debris, empty trash receptacles, and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
Work collaboratively with building maintenance staff to support facility upkeep.
Report repair or maintenance needs promptly to supervisor.
Maintain supply closets in an organized and accessible condition.
Adhere to all cleaning, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
Support a safe environment for staff, clients, and visitors by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
Attend supervision, meetings, and required training sessions.
Maintain flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.
Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and adherence to confidentiality standards, including HIPAA.

Minimum 1 year of janitorial experience required.
Experience in healthcare, commercial, or institutional cleaning environments preferred.
General knowledge of cleaning and janitorial procedures.
Understanding of proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
Ability to safely operate heavy cleaning equipment (floor buffers, vacuums, carpet cleaners).
Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and chemical safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Reliable, punctual, and able to prioritize work effectively.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, which may include a DSHS search.

Physical Demands / Work EnvironmentThe employee will primarily work in a clinical facility environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, operate cleaning machinery, and frequently stand, walk, bend, talk, and use close vision. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
