The United Center is the largest arena in the United States and is located near the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. The United Center hosts concerts, other events, and is home to the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League and the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association.
Overview:
As a Union Cook at the United Center, you will be responsible for preparing food safely, efficiently, and in accordance with projected attendance levels. You will support event operations by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cook and prepare food before and during events following volume guidelines.
Assist with prep tasks and support stand workers with food items and guest service.
Set up the stand with correct stock levels, working equipment, and safe food practices.
Properly store, label, and rotate food (FIFO); monitor expiration dates.
Clean equipment and cooking areas after use; ensure all tools and stations are sanitized.
Train new cooks as needed and follow venue and union procedures.
Skills & Requirements:
1-3 months of cooking or related food service experience preferred.
Basic math, communication, and reasoning abilities required.
Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 40 lbs during shifts.
Must follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
This is a union position; membership or eligibility required.
