Job Description

Compass Government Solutions LLC is looking for a Wound Care RN to provide services for the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Bethesda. In preparation to bid on this contract, we are seeking qualified candidates willing to be included in our proposal as interested and skilled individuals.

Hours: 8 ½ hour shifts based on needs

6:00 AM-7:30 PM

Job requirements

• Provide expert consultation and/or hands-on care for individual patients with acute or chronic wounds including venous, arterial, and diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers, traumatic and draining wounds, surgical incisions, and tubes and fistulas, as well as any skin breakdown that requires additional Intervention. Establish and coordinate multidisciplinary comprehensive wound management plans, including reducing causative factors, controlling odor, assessing nutritional needs, and providing and applying topical therapies.
• Develop and implement education programs for patients, staff, and other healthcare providers.
• Coordinate quality improvement initiatives to optimize skin and wound outcomes.
• Advocate for patients with skin and wound care needs IAW Pressure Injury Prevention hospital protocols. Develops Protocols & Practice Standards for managing patients with wound, ostomy and pressure ulcer prevention needs.
• Develops and coordinates organizational wide programs for prevention and management of skin breakdown.
• Monitor patient outcomes on an ongoing basis.
• Participates in multi-disciplinary patient centered case conferences, as appropriate.
• Maintains data and statistical reports as requested.
• Participates in wound care related Root Cause Analysis and quality/process improvement projects.
• Once provided with "hands-on" experience, demonstrate working knowledge and use of computerized patient care systems, including MHS Genesis.
• Obtain, maintain access to DHMRSi program and complete bi-weekly DHMRSi workload documentation
  
  

Qualifications

• Degree/Education: (a) Current license as a registered nurse in U.S.
• Certifications BLS Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP), current certification in Wound and Ostomy Care (WOCN required; other certifications will be considered on case by care approval WR Wound Team).
• Experience: Minimum of two years of wound and ostomy care in the last four (4).
• Provide nursing care to eligible beneficiaries, newborn -geriatrics patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).
• Provides comprehensive care to manage and heal various types of wounds, indulge venous, arterial, and diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers, traumatic and draining wounds, surgical incisions, and tubes and fistulas, as well as any skin breakdown that requires additional Intervention.
• This work requires assessment creation and implementation of treatment plans and monitoring for Infection.
• Provides an advanced level of specialized nursing care of colon, rectal, and urologic patients. Plans, and evaluates the nursing care of patients with ileostomies, colostomies, urostomies, and a wide variety if drainage and skin problems.
• As a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborates with the primary care provider, surgeons, and other professional health care providers, in one or more surgical services, to assess, coordinate, plan, and Implement evidence-based approaches and practices to deliver efficient, cost effective wound care for the beneficiary population, encompassing active duty DoD service personnel, retirees, and their family members.
