Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician

Job Title: QA Technician

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the quality, food safety and esthetics of the product. The QC technicians follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, follow Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform pre op inspection and interact with USDA representatives.

· Conduct the following monitoring tasks:

o CCP monitoring and verification

o Quality control checks. Metal detector, Weights, labeling, specification, temperatures, etc.

o Chemical testing/titrations.

· Oversee Good manufacturing practices and sanitation practices.

· Verify and enforce implementation of procedures related to SQF, Organic, Allergen and Cross contamination.

· Perform environmental monitoring program swabbing, ATP, allergen testing etc.

· Sampling raw and fully cook product for microbiological testing.

· Testing of raw ground meat for Fat, Moisture and Protein

· Thermometer, Data logger, Aw meter and Scale calibration.

· Conduct internal audits

· Conduct investigation and corrective action of non-conformance findings and follow the hold and release program.

· Employee training for GMP’s.

· Keep records and enter data on computer files.

· Record Review and pre shipment.

· Support Manager and Team on continuous improvement projects development

Qualifications/Skills:

· Associated degree or High School with work experience in Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; active listening skills

· Detailed oriented, critical thinker and good mathematic skills.

· Experience implementing or sustaining a GFSI food safety scheme (SQF, BRC, ISO, etc.)

· Proficient using Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point) along with good basic math skills

· Bilingual English Spanish preferably

· Reliability and responsibility.·

Environmental Conditions:

1. Indoors in moist, even wet environment. Working in cold conditions 100% of time in temperatures between 30-45 degrees. May occasionally be required to enter freezer at 0-10 degrees for less than 5% of time.

2. May be exposed to some noise from machinery up to 100% of time.

3. Must be able to stand, stoop, reach, squat, pull, push, grasp, while lifting up to 50 lbs. Will be required to stand, walk up to 80% of time.

4. May be exposed to short periods of Co2 gas exposure that is deemed to be an acceptable level according to Cal OSHA regulations.

Physical Demands:

1. Mobility within the production area.

2. Ability to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs.

3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds if necessary.

Schedules. Flexibility required for rotations.

Pre op shift: 4:30 am to 1:00PM

Middle shift: 9:00am to 5:30 Pm

Second shift: 1:00 PM to close shift.

Days of work:

· Standard workdays are Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts as needed.

· Sunday work is rare but may be required in special circumstances.

· The Quality Control (QC) team must maintain full coverage by rotating shifts and providing backup when a team member is off.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
