Job Summary
The Electrical Project Manager will oversee commercial, industrial, institutional, and select residential electrical projects up to $2 million. This position ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while fostering strong client and team relationships. As a key leader, you will contribute to the growth and success of Compass Electrical Solutions, further serving as a Compass Culture Carrier.
Key Responsibilities
- Profitably manage electrical projects up to $2 million, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Proactively monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage project risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Develop and lead project teams, mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of continuous growth.
- Generate new business opportunities and maintain profitable client relationships.
- Assist in project planning from inception to completion, including material procurement and subcontractor management.
- Periodically estimate new opportunities and change orders.
- Review, negotiate, and manage contracts, RFIs, cost estimates, and change orders.
- Utilize project management software for scheduling, forecasting, and data analysis.
- Gather and maintain documentation for billing and compliance.
- Lead project meetings, address technical inquiries, and ensure effective communication.
- Actively contribute to company culture and uphold Compass values.
Required Skills & Qualification
- 8 years of proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager.
- Proven ability to profitably manage projects up to $2 million with minimal oversight.
- Experience in generating new business and managing client relationships.
- Strong leadership skills, including mentoring and team development.
- Extensive knowledge of project management and financial principles, including Profit & Loss management.
- Experience with RFIs, cost estimates, negotiations, material take-offs, and blueprint reading.
- Proficiency in project management and estimating software.
- Deep understanding of electrical systems, NEC, and electrical design/engineering.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience utilizing cost codes and forcasting based on earned values.
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Systems Design, or equivalent experience.
- PMP certification preferred.
