Academic Req: Bachelor’s or undergraduate degree from an accredited program/university

Certifications: First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention

Work experience: Required - At least five (5) years of experience as:

  • The director of a licensed childcare program or similar program for children and adolescents; or
  • Administrator of a large organization; or
  • At least five (5) years of progressive project management or business management demonstrating advanced levels of growth and success


Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:

  • Update and implement program policies and procedures to promote best practices.
  • Supervise and support staff to maintain assigned campuses to ensure buildings, grounds and equipment are clean, in good working order, and ready for tour.
  • Maintain 90% or better compliance with contracting entities, internal and external audits.
  • Maintain annual staff turnover at less than 10%.
  • Implement sound operational strategies that are in line with agency practice.
  • Complete all notification and reporting requirements in accordance with state and federal contract and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Hire, train, supervise, review actions of and effectively communicate with program personnel assigned to this position.
  • Conduct periodic case reviews to ensure that assessments and recommendations meet standard child welfare practices and program guidelines.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly all-staff meetings.
  • Analyze the nature, severity, and frequency of security risks to the region.
  • Effectively communicate with and between facility staff, children, federal staff, and legal representatives for services population.
  • Monitor program data and report on activities and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Organize and participate in local and regional meetings with community entities in the region to address current and future issues affecting the program operations.
  • Participate in service expansion planning, budget preparations and long and short-term planning for the program.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, clients, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate organizational, programmatic, and financial elements of the services provided to the service population to ensure each child’s physical, social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs are met.
  • Develop and implement an organizational management structure which promotes industry best practices, facilities optimum delivery of services and ensures the safety and well-being of the service population and staff at multiple sites and locations.
  • Develop, maintain, and forecast a budget of more than 4 million dollars.
  • Work a flexible schedule including availability nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Remediate any program deficiencies associated with federal and state contractual and regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Meet all agency policies and procedures and federal and state contractual and regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
  • Assume fiscal responsibility by maintaining programming within budget and providing justification and documentation.
  • 75% travel requirement.
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
  • Implement Compass Connections systems safety protocols in case of an emergency.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and team decisions and operations.
  • Foster Care Programs - Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.


Requirements:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to:
  • Work effectively with Compass Connections leadership, Compass Connections Executive Director, Compass Connections Residential Leadership, state licensing representatives, and funding source entities.
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
  • Organize and prioritize responsibilities and duties efficiently.
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards.
