Your Role as Director of Community Mental Health Services
As Director, you will oversee a portfolio of community-based programs designed to stabilize, support, and strengthen individuals and families. You will lead program development, ensure clinical excellence, and drive operational performance across CSA-funded services, such as Community Stabilization, Intensive In-Home, Parenting, Mentoring, and other supportive programs.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, you’ll play a key role in Compass’s strategic growth and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight
- Supervise, mentor, and support clinical and program supervisors delivering community-based services.
- Ensure adherence to best practices, ethical standards, and state regulations.
Program Management
- Provide strategic oversight and direction for a diverse portfolio of community mental health programs serving children, families, and adults across Virginia.
- Develop, monitor, and refine systems to improve service delivery, staff performance, and client outcomes.
- Lead initiatives to expand program access and strengthen partnerships with referral sources and community stakeholders.
Quality & Compliance
- Oversee clinical documentation, treatment planning, and outcome data to ensure excellence in care.
- Implement continuous quality improvement processes and lead data-driven decision-making efforts.
Community & Family Engagement
- Promote wraparound, family-centered approaches that support communication, problem-solving, and long-term stability.
- Collaborate with schools, hospitals, social services, and community agencies to coordinate care and build stronger support networks.
Leadership Development
- Inspire and develop regional leaders through coaching, professional development, and succession planning.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and values-driven culture across all programs and regions.

Required Qualifications
- Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) in Virginia (e.g., LPC, LCSW)
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in behavioral health or human services
- Proven success in managing multi-site programs and leading interdisciplinary teams
- Strong knowledge of community-based behavioral health models and regulations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and coaching skills
- Ability to travel between regions (Hampton Roads, Richmond, Charlottesville)
- Valid driver’s license with 3 years of driving experience
