The Southwest Missouri Regional Director will be responsible for the successful execution of the Compass Academy Network summer enrichment program at approximately six Missouri locations anticipated to be centered in Southwest Missouri (projected sites include Joplin, Neosho, Lamar, and additional Missouri locations) including all aspects of planning, preparation, execution, evaluation, and management. Responsibilities include, without limitation:

·      Program Management and Supervision: Oversee all aspects of planning, preparation, execution, evaluation, and management of day-to-day operation of summer programs at all regional sites. Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day management of all regional sites in collaboration with Program Directors. Plan and coordinate program support functions for all locations, including transportation, nutrition, technology support, and provision supplies. Coordinate and monitor all reporting, communications, and oversight including time and attendance reporting for faculty and staff at all program locations. Ensure consistency across sites through observation, evaluation, and training. Supervise, support, and assist Program Directors in all aspects of program delivery and ensure all aspects of program are delivered and executed in accordance with CAN policies and procedures as may be amended or updated from time to time. Maintain open and effective communication with corporate administrative staff.

·      Recruiting and Marketing: Oversee successful student, faculty (including, if necessary, Program Directors), and Peer Mentor recruitment and student enrollment for all regional sites. Collaborate with the administrative team, Program Directors within region, and other program staff and outside vendors to develop and implement recruiting and marketing strategies to attract students to the

program. Primary responsibility for ensuring full student enrollment at regional sites including effective supervision of Program Directors in all aspects of marketing and recruiting for the CAN program.

·      Leadership, Community Alliances, Stakeholder Relationships: In coordination with and at the direction of the administrative team, be an active, visible, and strategic leader, engaging in regular outreach with all constituencies and the public to advocate for the program and its mission. Maintain strong and effective alliances with local educators, community leaders, host locations, and donors. Maintain relationships with school district and community partners and stakeholders to strengthen the program’s reputation and expand brand recognition.

·      Program Expansion and Funding: Assist in the establishment of new CAN locations, and the development of positive and productive relationships with potential donors, community and school partners, including principals, superintendents, school board members, and local business organizations and owners. Relationships will be managed through a collaborative process with the corporate administrative team.

·      Academic Year Programming: Schedule, plan, and execute academic year programming in collaboration with the administrative team. Academic-year programming and partner engagement continue year-round and remain the Regional Director’s primary professional responsibility outside the summer season.

·      Data Tracking: Work with Program Directors, outside consultants, and partner districts to obtain, share, and track data and program results for both student and Peer Mentors, including, but not limited to, state standardized testing, grades, attendance records, extracurricular involvement, and other student metrics post-program. Data should be collected from partner districts each semester. Primary responsibility for ensuring all data is collected through efforts with each Program Director in region on a timely and accurate basis.

·      Safety and Compliance: Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of program participants and staff in collaboration with the administrative team. Primary responsibility for training and ensuring adherence by all Program Directors and location faculty and staff regarding all relevant CAN policies and procedures.

·      Orientation and Training: Organize the onboarding, orientation, training, and evaluation of Program Directors, faculty, and Peer Mentors. Assist in the review of operational handbooks as requested by administrative staff.

·      Evaluation and Program Efficacy:

§ Execute CAN’s weekly review process to ensure effective reporting and evaluation of pedagogy, delivery of curriculum, consistency among sites, and maintenance of key program mission components.

§ Observe and facilitate the evaluation of the program regarding faculty performance, pedagogy, training, professional development of Peer Mentors, and the efficacy of the curriculum.

§ Organize and execute CAN’s post-program wrap-up process to gather feedback from program participants.


Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Public School Administration, Youth

Development, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

·      Minimum 5–7 years of experience in youth-serving or education-related programs, including administrative experience (required); experience in rural education settings preferred.

·      Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams in seasonal environments.

·      The role is well suited to coaches and school administrators accustomed to holding people accountable, planning trips and events, and working with a varied group of students, families, and partners; administrative experience is required, and candidates must be able to make Compass their primary and first professional commitment, including during the academic year.

·      Exceptional organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to connect with and engage middle school–aged students, and skill interacting effectively with parents, school districts, and other community partners.

·      Experience managing budgets, logistical operations, event planning, and compliance; project management and multitasking/managing across multiple program sites.

·      Familiarity with evidence-based instructional practices for K-12 students (middle school experience preferred).

·      Execution of CAN’s data collection practices for teachers, Peer Mentors, students,

and their families.

·      Knowledge of state standards, testing, and district budgets is preferred.

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of representing the organization at meetings and public events.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LMS/student enrollment systems, HR platforms, and project management tools preferred.

·      Willingness and ability to travel to rural site locations.

·      Willingness to attend and possibly lead evening and weekend events.

·      Ability to load/unload supplies at CAN sites (up to 50 lbs.) and assist in overall site set-up and break-down.


Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position. For the appropriate candidate, the position may be structured as a 75% commitment—approximately 25–30 hours per week—during the academic year, with full-time work May – August, to take account of a current commitment such as a coaching position. In all cases, Compass is the Regional Director’s primary and first professional responsibility.
