Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with animal restraint during examinations and procedures, ensuring safety for both pets and staff.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions and aseptic techniques.
- Handle animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning kennels, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining overall animal welfare standards.
- Perform laboratory procedures including sample collection, processing tests, and recording results with precision.
- Support veterinary critical care by assisting with emergency procedures, monitoring hospitalized animals, and providing compassionate pet care.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files, and ensure compliance with veterinary terminology standards.
- Manage pet care routines including dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and understanding animal physiology for safe procedures.
- Assist with laboratory work involving animal catheterization, anatomy knowledge application, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Support the front desk by managing client communications, appointment scheduling, billing processes, and answering inquiries professionally.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating with colleagues on daily tasks such as animal handling and clinic maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting with knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
- Strong kennel experience along with animal husbandry skills to ensure optimal care for diverse species including dogs and equines.
- Prior veterinary technician or assistant experience is highly preferred; familiarity with veterinary critical care is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability in animal handling techniques such as dog handling and animal restraint for various procedures.
- Knowledge of laboratory practices including sample collection, processing tests, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for front desk duties involving client interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to perform medication administration accurately while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Experience with pet care routines such as feeding schedules, medication management, and basic animal physiology understanding.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and clinic documentation.
