Kennel Assistant – Weekends Only PT : 15-20 hrs. /wk.

Job Type: Entry Level - Weekend Part Time Position 15 - 20 hrs. per week for weekends. You will have to work on some Saturdays and Sundays including some holiday weekends, this is not negotiable. We are open from 7AM to 6PM, 7 days a week. Your day shift could vary from a full shift (7am - 6pm with lunch break), half shift (7-1 or 1-6). We need someone with flexibility in their schedule to vary between the different shifts. Must have reliable transportation. Could be possible to work other hours through the week if desired. You will have the option to have some weekends off. This can be discussed further during the interview process. Hours can increase during busy periods like summer or to cover other shifts when other employees are out if you have availability. If you cannot work most Saturdays and Sundays or some holiday weekends please do not apply, no exceptions.

Job Description: Kennel Assistant Part Time Weekends entry level - responsible for the day-to-day pet care and play activities of the dogs staying at our facility. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring the well-being of the dogs. You will have to interact and be courteous with clients and check dogs in and out. You need to be comfortable around a large group of dogs. Must keep facility clean which can include mopping, laundry, cleaning kennels, dishes, changing the poop buckets, etc. We do routine deep clean projects, small maintenance tasks around the facility like cleaning outside patios, and watering plants. You might do some light office work.

Local College students are encouraged to apply for this position due to this being part time and our shifts tend to work well for most students. We will also try to be flexible with your schedule during any appointments, school schedules you might have or other schedule needs.

Our Facility: We are a Country Home Environment with acreage for the dogs to run and play. We do our boarding and daycare on a small scale and only care for about 35 dogs max during busy periods. We have 3 employees and can increase to 5 during seasonal times like summer and holidays. Since we are smaller, we have a very hands-on approach to each dog and with their owners. We have long-standing clients due to the family-type pet care given and the relationships with their owners. Employee discounts on boarding and free daycare if your dog is social and manageable with the other dogs. Because we have a small staff, being dependable, reliable, and trustworthy is a must.

Requirements

Must be able to demonstrate reliability either through job-related references or school-related references.

• Must be available to work most Saturdays and Sundays and holiday weekends no exceptions.
• Being dependable and reliable is a must. Must provide work references to demonstrate dependability.
• Local College students are welcome to apply since our schedule can be flexible with your school schedule.
• Prefer someone within 10–15-minute drive and have own transportation.
• Have an interest in weekend part time position.
• Demonstrate compassion and confidence with dogs in our care.
• Must be able to handle large breed dogs and physical activities.
• Must possess the willingness to learn, be productive and courteous to clients.
• Graduated High School or has GED minimum.
• Should be 21 years of age or older.
• Required experience: Some pet care, animal care, dog care, kennel, or animal boarding preferred.
• Will train the right person if we feel they have the qualities we seek.
