What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver for a Precious lady with Alzheimer's-Saturday/Sunday-9am-1pm/Brambleton Ave. Roanoke position at Companion Home Care?
This precious tiny spitfire of a lady can be the funniest and the sweetest one minute, and then handwringing and worried about whether she has enough food to last her the next. If you have ever worked with someone going through the hell of Alzheimer's and dementia, you understand. We need someone for the weekend morning shifts (we have a team morning and evening, 7 days a week.)
Saturdays: You will make sure she has breakfast, usually an Ensure and a bowl of cereal, as well as her meds. Meds are already put in a medication box. She loves to go, go, go! You will take her to walk the mall or somewhere familiar. She loves to listen to "rock-n-roll music, Rolling Stones, and the Beatles" so any time left can be spent dancing in the living room. She often does this!
Sundays: You will take and stay with her at her church down the street, which she has attended her entire life. Then she always has lunch out somewhere afterwards. It was Texas Steakhouse every week until the caregiver was able to steer her to somewhere else, Long John Silvers. She can't remember what restaurants are available in the area, so if you can get her to try somewhere new, that might be great! The caregiver has a company credit card to cover their lunch expenses.
A mature woman is requested for her. She loves the company and wants a "buddy." She loves having a companion.
