What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician Assistant/Animal Care Associate position at Companion Care Animal Hospital?
Experience with handling animals preferred or other work related experience.
A Veterinary Assistant takes on many responsibilities to ensure they give the best support so Veterinarians get their job done efficiently. Specific duties and responsibilities of Veterinary Assistants include:
1. Assisting in maintaining a clean work environment (Mopping, vacuuming, laundry, upkeep, cleaning Kennels, cleaning examination area’s etc.)
2. Keeping our patients clean and comfortable
3. Assisting Doctor and technicians with treatments as needed
4. Handling and soothing animals during examinations, treatments, and vaccinations
5. Recording relevant information about animals, including weight
6. Restraining and handling animals during examinations and treatments
7. Veterinary Assistant skills and qualifications
8. Assist in managing stock
9. Must be able lift/carry 50-60 lbs. And assist in lifting/carrying heavier dogs.
Successful Veterinary Assistants need a variety of soft skills and technical knowledge to excel in their jobs. Some of the most important skills and qualifications include
√ Expert animal handling skills
√ Excellent communication skills
√ Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks depending on needs
√ Good organizational skills
√ Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, OSHA regulations
√ Computer skills to maintain medical records about animals in veterinary software.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday ( Various Hours)(2pm-6pm and 2 pm-7pm)
Every other Saturday (8-12)
Hours are subject to change based on need
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
