Veterinary Assistant
We’re looking for the next great addition to our team at Companion Animal Hospital of Lafayette.
Veterinary experience is a plus but not required. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, easily coachable, and excited to be trained and mentored by our experienced veterinary technicians and veterinarian.
We are a small, close-knit practice that believes in building lasting relationships with our clients so we can provide personalized care for every patient. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach—every pet and every family is different, and our care reflects that. We’re looking for someone who will become part of our team and contribute to the positive relationships we’ve built with both our clients and each other.
This is a support role that works closely with our technicians. Responsibilities include assisting with patient handling and restraint for routine exams, diagnostic cases and surgical procedures, as well as preparing and cleaning exam rooms and treatment areas. We practice feline-friendly handling as members of the Feline VMA and strive for a low stress environment for our patients and therefore we are looking for someone understands the importance of this role. This is a physically active position that requires long hours on your feet and, at times, working on the floor to safely assist our patients. This position would need someone that can lift up to 50 pounds, assist with patients over 100 pounds, and keep a smile on their face because we love our patients.

Veterinary medicine is unpredictable, and our schedule often changes based on patient needs, so the ability to adapt with a positive attitude is essential.
