What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at Compact Lifting Equipment?
Compact Lifting Equipment (CLE) is seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Mechanic to support our growing fleet of specialized lifting equipment. This role is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mini crawler cranes, forklifts, and carry deck cranes to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on mini crawler cranes, forklifts, and carry deck cranes
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently
- Repair and replace components including winches, cables, hydraulic systems, sensors, and electrical controls
- Troubleshoot equipment faults both in-shop and in the field when necessary
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection reports
- Prepare equipment for rental by ensuring all systems are fully operational and safe
- Identify potential issues proactively to prevent downtime and costly repairs
- Assist with equipment setup, testing, and operational checks
- Follow all safety procedures and company standards
- Experience working on construction equipment, cranes, forklifts, or similar heavy machinery
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and load charts
- Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting tools
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus but not required)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with spider cranes (Jekko, Maeda, etc.)
- Familiarity with remote-controlled equipment and electronic control systems
- Field service experience
