What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Procurement position at COMPACT INDUSTRIES INC?
Purpose: Creatively lead and optimize the Purchasing, Scheduling, and Planning functions.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance all departmental activities through ongoing process and ERP technology innovation.
- Proactively lead supplier relationships, including ongoing performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and long-term partnerships.
- Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, payment terms and mutually beneficial agreements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to understand their requirements and align procurement activities with organizational goals.
- Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, economic factors, supplier capabilities and pricing fluctuations.
- Analyze inventory levels, demand forecasts and consumption patterns to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have advanced critical thinking skills to assess and optimize department operations and technology.
- Significant experience in fast paced office environment is required for success in this role. Must be a motivated, hands-on leader.
- Food purchasing experience is required, including negotiating contracts, vendor management, and a thorough understanding of market dynamics to optimize procurement strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience is required.
- Experience with commodities and ingredients, packaging materials such as films, cartons, corrugated and associated components a big plus.
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
