2nd Shift Quality Assurance Technician

Description

PURPOSE: 

To inspect raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure they meet customer specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                    

• Accurately document all quality checks utilizing a tablet.
• Taste product to ensure it matches the flavor of the standard.
• Check the weights of the product being produced to ensure they are within range.
• Inspect all aspects of packaging to ensure the product container is in good condition with proper coding.
• Ensure all food safety standards are being followed and address respectfully to get behaviors corrected.
• Preform all quality processes following written procedures.
• Complete visual and swabbing inspections prior to operational of equipment.
• Test metal detectors, x-ray machines, and check weighers to ensure proper functioning.
• Place non-conforming product on hold and escalate the concerns. 
• Conduct laboratory-testing procedures such as brix, density, flowability, sensory and weights as required.
• Utilize chronometers, refractometers, moistures, scales, pH equipment, air pumps, vacuum chambers, and incubators to complete testing.
• Communicate and collaborate with different departments and at all levels of the organization.
• Understand all of the information contained within a product specification sheet.
• Oversee PEM programs are following the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules.
• Assist with any nonconforming product and ensure good communication with 3^rd party laboratory vendor.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• At least one year working in food manufacturing is preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications.
• Problem solving and decision making skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Walk or stand 95% of the time.
• Overtime availability based upon company needs.
