Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Senior Technical Editor position at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC.
Salary: $60/hr - $66/hr
Location: Aiken, SC (100% Remote)
Citizenship: US Citizenship Required
Work Schedule: (Part-Time ~ 30 hrs/week)
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain DOE βQβ clearance required
Impact
The Senior Technical Editor will serve as a central contributor to high-visibility communications and documentation for Savannah River Site (SRS) activities, with direct impact on national security and nuclear material accounting. This role requires strong leadership in publication processes, editorial standards, and nuclear material accounting support. The successful candidate will contribute to the integrity, accuracy, and professionalism of communications supporting Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) missions.
π« Mandatory Experience Requirement β Read Before Applying
Candidates must have experience with LANMAS software and Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) at a DOE/NNSA site. Applications without these qualifications will not be considered.
Additionally, the candidate must be able to obtain a DOE βQβ clearance.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Design, write, edit, and publish materials related to SRS activities to maintain the accuracy and reputation of communications.
- Lead task teams of publishing personnel to meet critical deadlines and quality standards.
- Analyze and evaluate technical information to create effective content for various audiences.
- Educate, consult, and market Publication Services to internal customers.
- Develop and deliver training on editorial standards.
- Support the development and communication of functional requirements for nuclear material accounting software.
- Organize and lead user acceptance testing for nuclear material accounting systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for LANMAS.
- Provide helpdesk support and implementation assistance for LANMAS at DOE/NNSA sites.
- Travel (up to 1 week/month) may be required for badging, meetings, or on-site support at DOE/NNSA locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE βQβ security clearance.
- Active eFOCI and approved DOE/NNSA Facility Level Clearance.
- Experience with LANMAS software.
- Experience with Nuclear Material Control and Accountability at a DOE/NNSA site.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical information effectively.
Desired Skills
- Experience developing requirements for software.
- Knowledge of electronic publishing processes and desktop publishing tools.
- Familiarity with SRS processes and technical writing standards.
- Proficiency with mark-up techniques, layout design, and template usage.
Education And Experience Requirements
- BS/BA in Technical Communications, English, Business, or related field with 5β7 years of relevant experience β OR β AS degree with 8β10 years of experience β OR β 10 years of directly related experience
- Education or experience in a technical field is highly desirable.
