Description

Community Vision is seeking a Supported Living Assistant Director to help lead and strengthen our Supported & Community Living programs. This is a dynamic leadership role for someone who can balance compliance and compassion, operational rigor and person-centered values, and strategy and day-to-day execution.

 

About the Role

The Assistant Director partners closely with the Supported Living Director and Community Vision leadership to:

  • Strengthen day-to-day program operations
  • Ensure regulatory compliance under Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs)
  • Champion person-centered, high-quality services
  • Develop and support supervisors and direct support professionals
  • Advise on sustainable program growth through strategic intake

This role oversees Community Living (CL) operations and supervises the SL Coordinators and SL Weekend On-Call team while ensuring alignment with Supported Living systems, maintaining seamless service experiences while protecting compliance and billing distinctions.


What You’ll Do

Lead & Strengthen Program Operations

  • Provide operational leadership to Community Living program and support SL & Weekend On-Call services.
  • Translate OAR requirements into practical systems and workflows, monitor training and service indicators, and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Contribute to strategic intake and growth decisions by assessing staffing readiness, supervisory capacity, and operational risk.

Develop Supervisors & Drive Accountability

  • Supervise and coach CL & SL Coordinators and Weekend On-Call Specialists to build strong, accountable teams.
  • Support performance development, address concerns early, and partner with HR and leadership to ensure competency and compliance standards are met. 

Ensure Continuity of High-Quality Supports

  • Carry a limited caseload when needed and guide smooth transitions between service models.
  • Lead effectively during crises while maintaining clear communication with individuals, families, and service partners.
  • Safeguard documentation, financial, and regulatory integrity in collaboration with Program Operations.
  • Provide direct supports in emergency coverage situations

Requirements

  1. Three (3) years’ work experience delivering person-centered supports for people w/ disabilities.
  2. Two (2) years’ work experience in supervisory role which required conducting performance appraisals, goal setting, coaching, and disciplinary oversight.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health, humanities, community development services, or closely related field, preferred.
  4. Approved Criminal History Check through the Oregon Department of Human Services Background Check Unit, including not be on the OIG List of Excluded Individuals and Entities.
  5. Must have reliable transportation that complies with State registration and insurance requirements as well as a valid Drivers’ License.
  6. Must have and maintain a clean driving record, which will be verified through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) upon hire and periodically thereafter.  
  7. Must maintain CPR\First Aid Certification, OIS Certification.

Work Environment

This role works across supported individuals’ homes, community settings, and Community Vision’s administrative offices. It requires:

  • Flexibility and mobility
  • Driving through out the Portland Metro Area
  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Participation in emergency response and weekend on-call rotation
  • Comfort working in varied home environments

Schedule: 40 hours/week; Monday - Friday; regular business hours. 


On-Call: In order to ensure that all staff and people supported have someone to turn to in the event of an emergency, you will be provided with a company cell phone to respond to emergency calls in the evenings and weekends.


Salary: $65k - $72k/annually. This position is exempt from earning overtime. 


Location: This position will spend time working in the office (SE Portland), visiting supported people in their homes (Portland Metro Area), and/or providing one-on-one direct support (Portland Metro Area). Reliable transportation is necessary for required travel throughout the Portland Metro Area. Mileage is reimbursed at .725 cents/mile.
