GSRP Assistant Preschool Teacher
Community Unlimited — Marshall, Michigan
Pay: Up to $21.91 per hour
Job type: Full-time, school-year position
Schedule: Monday–Friday, averaging 37.5 hours per week

Great preschool classrooms are built by great teams. Community Unlimited is seeking a qualified GSRP Assistant Preschool Teacher to help create a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom for young children in Marshall.
You will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide meaningful learning experiences, maintain active supervision, support classroom routines, document children’s progress, and build positive relationships with families.
What You Will Do
- Help plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences using the HighScope curriculum.
- Support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Actively supervise children in the classroom, outdoors, during meals and toileting, on field trips, and throughout the school day.
- Use positive behavioral guidance, conflict-resolution strategies, and respectful interactions.
- Observe children and assist with developmental screenings, assessments, and documentation.
- Help individualize classroom activities based on each child’s development and needs.
- Support family activities and maintain positive communication with parents and caregivers.
- Maintain accurate attendance, meal-count, enrollment, and classroom records.
- Follow all health, safety, food-allergy, mandated-reporting, and child care licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher, Early Childhood Specialist, Community Unlimited staff, and school partners.
- Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development.
- Assist in other classrooms when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must currently meet one of the following requirements:
- Hold a current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential in the Preschool Center-Based setting
OR
- Hold an associate degree in early childhood education
Applicants must already meet one of these qualification pathways to be considered. Credential or transcript verification will be required.

Previous experience in GSRP, HighScope, or another early childhood program is preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, sit and work at a child’s level, bend, move throughout the classroom and playground, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
Hourly pay is based on credentials, qualifications, and relevant early childhood experience. Highly qualified candidates may earn up to $21.91 per hour.
