The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Florida International University (Miami, FL) is offering two fully funded Ph.D. positions starting in Spring 2027 or Fall 2027. The students will work in the following two NSF projects: https://web.eng.fiu.edu/arleon/Project_IoT_AI_CSO.html, https://web.eng.fiu.edu/arleon/Project_AI_CSOs.html. These positions focus on modeling sewer systems using CFD, the Illinois Transient Model (ITM), and PySWMM and on real-time of sewer systems. Experience with machine learning/AI is required. Some experience with fluid laboratory experiments is also required. We are seeking highly motivated students with strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C ) and familiarity with open-source modeling tools.
