Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team! Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, supporting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed care plans while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe changes in condition, and report findings accurately to healthcare teams.
- Support clients during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management to promote healthy living.
- Use patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities tailored to their interests and developmental needs, including socialization and recreational pursuits.
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, patient observations, and adherence to safety protocols including first aid and CPR when necessary.
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes or assisted living environments is highly valued.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is preferred.
- Strong patient observation skills to monitor health status and behavioral changes effectively.
- Ability to perform cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Experience with patient monitoring tools like vital signs measurement and medication administration.
- Familiarity with care plans development and implementation for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Competence in using patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and understanding resident’s
(personal needs). - Knowledge of HIPAA standards ensuring confidentiality of client information at all times.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging clients effectively and collaborating with team members.
- Ability to handle physical tasks involving heavy lifting or manual handling safely.
