About the Role
Our Shelter Program is a 13-bed residential home providing structured, supportive housing for adults engaged in Sonoma County Behavioral Health services. Residential Counselors play a critical role in maintaining a safe environment while helping residents build independence and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Build supportive, professional relationships with residents
- Support daily routines, goal setting, and independent living skills
- Facilitate life-skills and wellness groups
- Monitor safety and maintain a structured environment
- Supervise medication administration and maintain documentation
- Respond to crises using trauma-informed care
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Age 18
- Ability to pass fingerprint clearance and background check
- Strong communication skills and professional boundaries
Preferred:
- Experience in behavioral health, residential care, shelter programs, or social services
- Associate degree or related education
- Experience with electronic health records (SmartCare preferred)
- Lived experience welcomed and valued
