Schedule: Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday 1:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday/Friday 3:00pm to 11:00pm

Starting Wage: $23.66 per hour

Join our mission-driven team as a Full-Time Lead Recreational Coordinator at our Lisa's House Program in Plainville, CT. At Lisa’s House, youth will find an array of comprehensive, client-specific treatment, services and interventions to help with emotional regulation, empowering adolescent females on decision-making and building healthy relationships, and boosting educational functioning. This will be accomplished through the implementation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The Lead Recreational Coordinator will have the responsibilities of a Shift Lead and a Recreational Coordinator. This individual ensures safe, therapeutic daily operations while also planning and facilitating structured recreation that promotes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, prosocial development, and treatment goals. As a Lead Recreational Coordinator, this role directs daily routines, supports staff in managing crises, provides mentorship, and ensures adherence to agency policies. What You'll Do

  • Acts as the primary planner of recreational and community-based activities for youth, ensuring components of the program’s therapeutic model are included and implemented
  • Lead in organizing and supervising special events, field trips, and outings, ensuring that all activities are safe, enriching, and aligned with the program’s goals.
  • Ensure all activities are designed to promote emotional growth, social skills development, and wellness in alignment with DBT model.
  • Incorporate the program’s therapeutic goals into each activity to help youth practice mindfulness and emotional regulation.
  • Develop, update, and manage the daily schedule and monthly activity calendar ensuring a balance between structured and free time.
  • Manage budgets for all recreational activities, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently for supplies, outings, and events.
  • Coordinate and place orders for boutique shopping, ensuring that residents have access to necessary incentives and therapeutic materials.
  • Ensure the budget for the boutique is used efficiently and request necessary flex funds to maintain therapeutic and or recreational needs.
  • Submit timely and accurate flex fund requests for needs related to recreational activities, supplies, and outings.
  • Ensure that all resources and materials are available and well-maintained for all recreational and therapeutic sessions.
  • Actively encourage and assist the girls in building positive interpersonal relationships, using DBT skills to foster healthy communication and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with leadership staff to ensure recreational activities align with individual treatment plans and goals.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss the progress of youth, providing feedback on how recreational activities contribute to their therapeutic journey.
  • Observe and assess the youth's engagement in recreational activities, noting any behaviors or progress in social and emotional development.
  • Coordinate with volunteers who support recreational and community activities, ensuring they are well-informed about the program's objectives and the youth's therapeutic needs.
  • Plan and lead community service projects that allow youth to contribute to their community in meaningful ways.
  • Facilitates weekly restorative justice groups (ensure attendance is reflected in CDCS)

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred with demonstrated familiarity of relevant experience, or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of two years of professional experience in human services, gender-responsive, strengths-based based and trauma-informed programming.
  • Must be familiar with gender-responsive, relational, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Must be able to work with challenging/resistant youth and families
  • Knowledge of Spanish in oral and written communication is desired
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Must have the requisite understanding and commitment to the principles of gender specific, strength-based, culturally competent, relational, and trauma-informed principles in the delivery of programming and services for abused /neglected and/or adjudicated adolescent girls.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to effectively contribute as a team member, and leader, with the capacity to serve as a trainer when needed.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Spanish in oral and written communication is desired.
  • Additional certifications will be required upon incumbency.
