REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of Workforce Development

SUMMARY:

Community Solutions is seeking a Workforce Development Facilitator II with expertise in project management, curriculum development, and best practices in substance use disorder treatment. This position will coordinate and oversee the development and facilitation of training courses related to substance use disorders, treatment methods, client engagement, recovery pathways, dual diagnosis, harm reduction, overdose prevention, and more.

We seek someone dedicated to breaking the stigma and barriers to substance use disorder treatment, is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), and shares our passion for collaborating with community partners to ensure access to high-quality care. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing evidence-based practices, developing training content for adult learners, facilitating training, and holding accountability on projects and deliverables.

  • Fully bilingual an biliterate in Spanish or another threshold language, such as Vietnamese or Tagalog.
  • Proven experience (3 years) providing substance use disorder services and/or facilitating related training in health, human services, or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health, education, related field, OR a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) credential; higher-level certification (e.g., CADC-II, LAADC) preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to create and manage project plans, set objective, and track progress.
  • A deep commitment to fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces and developing passionate, highly skilled staff.
  • Strong knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and the ability to integrate them into training content.
  • Experience facilitating training utilizing best practices in adult learning to groups of 50 individuals across multiple disciplines and leadership levels.
  • Demonstrated track record of engaging facilitation and strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable writing grant report summaries, event descriptions, and writing skills demonstrate good use of English grammar, sentence structure, and punctation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience in applicable eLearning software, project management tracking and presentation tools (Microsoft Projects, Teams, SharePoint), and presentation tools (Canva and Zoom).


Special Requirements: Must be able to receive criminal records clearance as required by specific programs, licensing regulations and Community Solutions practices. Position requires an automobile to perform routine job duties.

What You'll Be Doing in the role of Workforce Development Facilitator: The following are examples of essential job duties for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned to support the program and Agency.

  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging training sessions on substance use disorders (SUD), evidence-based practices, and client-centered approaches for adult learners in behavioral health settings.
  • Create training curricula, presentations, and supporting materials that translate complex concepts into accessible, practical tools for diverse professional audiences.
  • Facilitate interactive learning experiences, including workshops, webinars, and blended learning formats, that promote skill-building and knowledge retention.
  • Stay current with research, policies, and best practices in SUD treatment, prevention, and recovery support, and integrate this knowledge into training content and resources.
  • Ensures a high-quality standard for all agency staff and community workshops by implementing and adhering to adult learning principles and understanding effective education and teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams to design and implement training courses related to the treatment of substance use disorders and related subjects.
  • Perform the full range of project management cycle, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and reporting of projects related to course development and implementation.
  • Ensure that DEIB principles are integrated into course materials and learning platforms.
  • Utilize evaluation data to inform strategy development and action planning to inform improvements in staff knowledge base and skills in the treatment of substance use disorders.
  • Write clear concise, and effective course syllabus, presentation, training guides, correspondence, and other forms of communication (e.g., articles, short videos, etc.).
  • Willingness to take initiative, high level of self-motivation, and ease of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, learning partners, and state-wide stakeholders.

Working at Community Solutions:

The annual base salary range for this role starts at $75,000 annually. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, licensure, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Work Environment and Location: This position is located within commutable distance to our Gilroy headquarters and is open to a hybrid work schedule, with occasional needs to be able to travel into our offices in San Jose and Morgan Hill.

  • License: Possess a valid California driver’s license, current car insurance and a good driving record as documented by a DMV report and consistent with the Agency’s liability insurance requirements.
