Summary
The Mentor is responsible for training new employees hired within CSG’s Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Center of Excellence. This position will ensure that new hires receive the support, training, and education necessary for successful employment. The Mentor will demonstrate and role model CSG’s mission and core values. The Mentor reports directly to the Director of IDD Professional Development.
This position is part of our Adult Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Community Home Services. You will be part of a team of coworkers staffing and serving a group of community homes or residential programs.
About Our IDD Community Home Services
Our IDD Community Home Services are able to support individuals at many different levels, including complex medical needs. Individuals in this program make a home and root their lives in the community. On site staff provide support and supervision, individualized to the needs and abilities of each individual. At every level of care, each person is able to grow their life and pursue their goals from the comfort and safety of their home in the community. Working with individuals, family members and other providers, our team helps each individual to identify meaningful and life fulfilling goals and supports them in taking each step towards realizing and achieving them.

Orientation includes the necessary foundational training needed before providing services in the programs and sets you up for a successful career at CSG. Orientation is held in-person at our Mountville office. Mileage reimbursement is provided for orientation related travel.

Job Description
- Schedules, trains and supports newly hired and transferred employees on foundational knowledge about the job responsibilities.
- Delivers presentations and leads group training sessions to effectively convey information to new employees.
- Provides and coordinates specific program training including knowledge about Individuals served and facility teams.
- Provides training to employees after the initial evaluation/introductory period as requested.
- Facilitates communications between employee and supervisor.
- Trains the supervisors or designees on continuing development and growth process.
- Coordinates tracking and notifications to supervisors, on-call staff and others as needed regarding the new employee training.
- Demonstrates flexibility by utilizing a variety of training methods to meet employee’s learning needs and works a non-traditional schedule to accommodate the new hires work schedule.
- Assists in the tracking of metrics and participates in staff development assessments.
- Trains new employees to comprehensively understand The ISP as a tool to address the needs of individuals and programs across all operational sites.
- Imparts knowledge of daily responsibilities in the residential and other work setting for which the employee is assigned.
- Understands and responds to concerns and apprehensions of new and current employees, and addresses them with dignity, respect, and a manner consistent with CSG’s Core Values.
- This position requires one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 1 year working experience in IDD or a High School Diploma or equivalency and 3 years working experience in IDD. A candidate in a residential leadership position would also be considered.
- Additional requirements include:
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend training, meetings, or locations where the mentoring occurs.
- Must have the ability to travel throughout CSG’s footprint in order to provide coverage for the training, development, and support of new hires as needed.
