What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Services Technician position at COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR EVERY1 INC?
Nursing Services Technicians provide a wide variety of individualized supports and services to people with developmental disabilities, direct care staff, as well as management. Nursing Services Technicians empower others by providing education, experience, and training as needed to ensure the people being served are enriched and live the most independent life possible.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in monitoring each Individual’s healthcare status and treatments.
- Adheres to and assists with ensuring each facility is compliant with all Physician, NP, PA, etc. orders.
- Develops rapport and communicates with medical providers, pharmacy, people served, staff, and family members as needed.
- Mentors site staff regarding the importance of developing open lines of communication with providers along with the most effective methods of documenting communications.
- Assists with the training of all staff regarding the review, completion, communication, and the overall preparation of escorting individuals to medical appointments, as well as the necessary follow up afterwards.
- Ensures attendance to the Monthly Day DSP/Nurse Meeting and agency medical meetings as needed.
- Mentors the Day Med DSPs on all content of the medical checklist ensuring assigned sites are adhering with the follow through and completion of the med checklist.
- Conducts individual-specific medication reviews weekly to ensure the proper administration of medications. Assists with medication error completion for Site Manager and RN review, if not completed timely.
- Completes required nursing care documentation promptly such as data entry into Therap and Quickmar. Assists with maintaining the database to ensure individual files are updated and current.
- Monitors for the completion of health-related exams, appointments, laboratory/diagnostic testing as ordered or required. Ensures a copy is maintained for Rn review
- Communicates issues and carries out all directives of overseeing RN and Nursing Administration.
- Attends PCAM’s monthly, as assigned, to assist RN, with medical communication and follow through.
- Completes Self Survey audits as assigned
- Follows all Behavior Plans and Plans of Protective Oversight for individuals within work site.
- Ensures individual medical files are organized with accurate relevant information. Maintains required records including daily weekly case summaries, case notes etc.
- Transports individuals safely adhering to all applicable traffic laws.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- 12 months experience in daily medical responsibilities as DSP
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities.
- Good oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Must be able to read and write case notes as well as understand written directions.
Certifications, must have or complete
- Medication Administration Certification.
- Must remain in good standing to remain in position, as determined by RN oversight.
- CPR/First Aid certified.
- SCIP Philosophy section of the SCIP-R curriculum.
Verifications and Screenings
- A valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Use of personal vehicle for work purposes.
- Tuberculosis testing.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Seeing, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, driving, stooping, bending, carrying, stretching, and climbing stairs.
- Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Exercising independent judgment, concentrating, thinking, communicating, interacting with others, managing multiple tasks and coping with stressful situations and deadlines.
- Staying awake and alert while on duty.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Hours worked will include day, evenings, limited overnights, as well as, weekend and holidays.
- Local travel required approximately 30% of the time.
- Required to provide coverage at other locations if requested.
