POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Teacher SUPERVISED BY:
Education Specialist
This is a non-exempt position Program Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge and implementation of Developmentally Appropriate Practices and early literacy;
- Ability to develop and implement weekly lesson plans for each child;
- Develop and implement bi-weekly group socialization lesson plans (Home Based);
- Administer developmental screenings and assessments;
- Share cleaning tasks with other staff;
- Work with all Head Start staff in recruiting volunteers and obtaining the required in-kind match;
- Maintain control of children using positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques
- Work with families through daily contact, Parent teacher conferences, and Educational
Home Visits.
- Develop a positive and trusting relationship with families.
- Initiate, complete and maintain all required documentation, records and reports;
- Participant in professional development activities;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all agency staff;
- Attend all Center Parent meeting (Meal with Class) meetings:
- Ride bus as a Bus Monitor and perform duties of a Bus Monitor;
- Ability to recognize and report Child Abuse and Neglect;
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality;
- Obtain medical physical, TB test and background screening;
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by component coordinators and/or Head
Start Director.
Actively participate in the planning, development, and activities of a Strategic goal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess or obtain a Bachelor, or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a degree in a related field with experience in teaching preschool children;
- Ability to communicate with all Head Start Staff, program participants and other agency
- employees
- Understanding and follow the Head Start Mission Statement, Performance Standards and State
Licensing Regulations;
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
