Location: La Habra, CA
Hours: Part Time/ Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM (25 hours per week)
Hourly Range: $17.50 - $20.50 per hour (Hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience)
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations of the Dining Program, including daily meal preparation and support services; supervising personnel and volunteers engaged in providing client services; and performing other job related tasks as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for kitchen, food, and serving supplies, which includes ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies for lunch time meal service.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates in a professional manner the performance of staff and volunteer workers.
- Organizes and implements a variety of daily programs for participants to include educational speakers and classes, health and physical fitness, safety and security issues, music, entertainment, and other programs which participants request.
- Monitors staff that take food temperatures and maintain temperature control charts.
- Checks food upon arrival for accurate delivery and complete meal preparation as menu prescribes.
- Ensures that all kitchen work surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized and that all food and serving supplies are locked up at the end of each day.
- Practices safe operating procedures and observes all safety regulations and precautions as prescribed by Meals on Wheels OC.
- Maintains records and statistical information related to personnel, expenses, participant attendance, donations staff and volunteer outreach efforts. Prepares accurate and timely reports related to same.
- Responsible for proper handling of meal and community donations according to Meals on Wheels OC policy guidelines and making bank deposits in a timely fashion.
- Supports outreach and public relations efforts with the goal of increasing program attendance, including representing Meals on Wheels OC Dining Program as necessary before community groups and other service agencies.
- Develops effective working relationships with members of the community, community groups, and public and private agencies involved in the delivery of human services.
- Identifies senior needs for supportive services and provides appropriate referrals to Meals on Wheels OC-sponsored programs, as well as other public and private sector community and human services programs.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Performs other duties and assignments related to this job as deemed necessary and appropriate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience supervising and directing staff and volunteers (volunteer work included).
- Must be able to work well with persons of all ages, especially elderly people.
- Be able to read, interpret and implement regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to maintain complex records and data;
- Valid California Driver's License and auto insurance as required by state, and ability to provide own transportation (vehicle) is required.
