What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tier Two Instructional Support Assistant position at Community School for Creative Education?
CSCE is seeking to hire an Aide that will be working specifically for Tier II and English Language Development (ELD) support. The aide will assist the Tier II team in working to support academic, language, and social and emotional learning and needs. Students that are in this program sometimes move on to needing a 504 plan or a behavior plan and staff will support teachers in ensuring their accommodations are met. Position Responsibilities:
• provides small group and sometimes one-on-one academic or social and emotional support.
• extra support building skills to ensure students can access grade level standards • enforce and monitor any behavior management system set up - which may look like charts, journaling, and/or regular check-ins to talk about the students' needs. • assists and supports language needs for students who may be new to the English language. This can either be small groups, 1:1 support, and assistance in ensuring students have access to translation through a device or translated classwork. • attends and participates in workshops and in service training/professional development, as necessary, to update job related skills
• Knows and uses school mission, philosophy, and values to direct daily work and decision-making.
• Promotes a professional and respectful working environment * Giving and monitoring various assessments to ensure students are moving towards their academic goals. * Takes very clear notes due to the tracking that is required for this position as we monitor students growth throughout the school year. Qualifications and Requirements:
- Prior work experience with leading small groups with children who may need more support in reading and writing development is highly desired
- Experience working with students who may speak another language outside of English as their home language. Speaking Spanish is not required but it may allow for better communication with some students.
- Employment eligibility will include being fingerprinted, passing a TB test and/or other employment clearance requirements.
- Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling and good knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Ability to work with students with various disabilities, age 5- 14 years of age; ability to follow written and oral instructions and direction; ability to complete and maintain basic written reports.
- Ability to work effectively with others. This position requires you to work not only under the Tier II lead, but classroom teachers, sometimes special education teachers, as well as various school staff and our Dean.
