Job Summary: The Father Engagement Specialist is responsible for engaging ‘hard to reach’ fathers who are referred by the Department of Family Services and who are in need of education, mentoring and case management in order to improve their parenting skills and ultimately fulfill the stipulations of DCF.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
A mastery of community resources, culture and connectivity in the Greater Bridgeport area. Team player. Flexible on hours and location to meet the client’s needs and ensure a greater level of engagement. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of the CT criminal justice system and area programs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Accepts referrals from the DCF Gatekeeper and as assigned by the program manager.
- Contacts clients to engage them into the program.
- Conducts intakes and proposes a plan for the individual/group sessions.
- Provides 24/7 Dad curriculum until all sessions have been fulfilled.
- Establishes a case management plan for clients and informs program manager of the client needs for financial planning.
- Maintains positive relationships with Gate keeper, DCF workers and personnel.
- Completes monthly reports on each client and discharge reports upon completion or unsuccessful discharge.
- Communicates any issues with engagement or concerns with the client’s worker and answers any specific questions.
- Plans and executes fatherhood events during the course of the year.
- Attends meetings as scheduled.
- Assists with fatherhood services in other programs as able.

- Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
- Math Ability: Medium.
- Bachelor’s degree with extensive program expertise.
- Requires nights and/or weekend work; schedule would be flexible to accommodate additional hours.
