Summary:

This position is responsible for the provision of a wide range of clinical and clinically related duties for Adult Behavioral Health Services. The position will support, and work in concert with, the program’s licensed clinicians and prescribers and be the liaison between the program and the JBSSD referral source.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engagement specialist will be the point of contact when communicating with JBCSSD referral source.
  • Responsible for receiving referrals from the referral source and ensuring clients are scheduled within 2 business days of receiving the referral. If client is not able to have intake scheduled within 2 weeks of referral Engagement Specialist will inform JBCSSD referral source and work to remedy.
  • Remain in close communication with clients to inform them of all appointments. Ensure appointment reminder system is up to date and active to decrease no show rate.
  • Attend daily clinical huddles to inform team members of new referrals and update of reports needed to be submitted.
  • Attend any meetings and training scheduled by JBCSSD.
  • Work in concert with the data specialist to ensure all report are entered in CDCS system accurately and timely including evaluation reports progress reports, and discharge reports.
  • Along with the Data Specialist the Engagement Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the WAI-SV  is administered quarterly and surveys are forwarded to JBCSSD.
  • Engagement Specialist will ensure incident reports are submitted accurately and timely.
  • Meet with clients to assess needs and treatment progress and report back to the clinical team any necessary updates regarding client needs.
  • Coordinates clinical case management services for clients with a variety of community-based service providers including in areas of housing, employment; screens and ensures clients’ eligibility for Medicaid, Medicare and other benefits, including but not limited to
  • SSI and SSDI; makes referrals for additional services and supports as needed.
  • Meet weekly with Clinical Director for individual supervision to discuss cases, and problem solve any issues that may arise.

Time Requirements:  40 hours per week.  Some evenings required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology or Criminal Justice preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the field of behavioral health and working with justice- involved population.
  • Experience working with other organizations providing services to justice- involved populations a plus.

Language Ability:  Very High.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with clients, staff and administrators; ability to speak Spanish a plus.

Work Environment: Some work may be performed within correctional custodial setting, as well as community location; valid Driver’s License is required.

Computer Skills:  High.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Must have internet research skills and ability to use data
