The Community Resolution Center (CRC), one of eighteen non-profit mediation centers funded by the State Court Administrative Office, is seeking an Executive Director. The CRC serves nine counties, including Genesee, Bay, Arenac, Clare, Gladwin, Midland, Roscommon and Saginaw. Our headquarters are located in Flint and we have an office in Saginaw.
The CRC provides affordable mediation services in many types of General Civil (in both Circuit and District Courts, including Landlord/Tenant, Small Claims & non domestic PPOs); Probate and Domestic Relations disputes. In addition, the CRC works with schools in the areas of Special Education and the practice of Restorative Justice offering training and guidance.
POSITION DISCRIPTION:
Job Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration of the Community Resolution Center (CRC). The position requires extending our services to the social agencies, community organizations and businesses in the communities we serve. It includes all aspects of program development, financial oversight, staff and the recruitment and supervision of volunteers. Additional responsibilities include organizing procedures, fund raising and developing new services.
Essential Duties:
The E.D. shall work with the Board of Directors in strengthening our Center, expanding our services, recruiting and training mediators and volunteers and maintaining the highest levels success throughout our organization.
The E.D. shall hire, supervise, train, coach and terminate staff if necessary. The E.D. shall delegate and assign duties to each staff member. The E.D. shall give a written and annual performance evaluation of each employee as well as appropriate volunteers. Annually the E.D. shall evaluate and review with the Board of Directors the results of employee and appropriate volunteers. The E.D., as necessary, shall work with the Board of Directors in reviewing and improving the Employee Manual.
The E.D. shall be responsible for the managing the day-to-day operations of the Community Resolution Center and for submitting performance reports/data to the State Court Administration Office (SCAO).
Financial Responsibilities:
The E.D. shall have five years of successful financial management.
The E.D. shall have the ability to analyze and evaluated financial reports, budgets, and work with our financial advisors.
The E.D., in consultation with the Board of Directors, is responsible for developing budgets and for supervising income, expenditures, and investments.
The E.D. shall be responsible for leading the CRC in fund-raising, including writing and securing grants.
The E.D. shall annually submit to the State Court Administrative Office a proposed budget for the upcoming year.
Job Qualifications Required:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Post-graduate degrees from an accredited college or university are welcome.
Experience in the principles and practices of administration management, planning, staffing, training, budget development and report writing is required.
The chosen candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of people.
The E.D. must have five years experience in non-profit management with a demonstrated record of organizational growth and fund development.
The E.D. shall immediately identify service performance setbacks and communicate them to the Board of Directors.
Market the CRC to prospective funding sources.
Plan and execute marketing, promotion and public education programs.
Familiarity with the legal system and courts is essential to the job and, therefore, highly desired, although not initially required.
