Job Description: Full-time, 12-month, Exempt
Community Preparatory School seeks an upper elementary teacher to join our team. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. The teacher will report to and be supervised by the principal. Our ideal candidate would have experience teaching various subjects in a fourth-fifth combined classroom, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a demonstrated interest or passion in working with underrepresented groups and their families.
Specific responsibilities of the teacher shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
- Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans for a 4th/5th-grade combined class.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and respect among students.
- Utilize various instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
- Incorporate technology and other innovative tools to enhance the learning experience and promote digital literacy.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities integrating math with other subjects.
- Establish and maintain strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices.
- Perform other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by the principal.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in elementary grades is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching math, ELA, social studies, and science in fourth and fifth grade.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a growth mindset.
Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the curriculum.
