Head Cook Job Responsibilities
- The Head Cook will ensure that all meals comply with Federal and State Government guidelines regarding serving sizes, balanced meals, and related standards. Dietary information and statistics of meals served will be recorded daily on the school-provided laptop.
- The Head Cook will serve all food at the appropriate temperatures and wear gloves following all related serving standards.
- The Head Cook will prepare and serve food at the Klinger Building unless alternative scheduling arrangements have been made.
- The Head Cook will order all the food, compose the monthly menu, and ensure it is made available to the school office for distribution to students.
- The Head Cook is responsible for keeping inventory of all food in the kitchen and maintaining recipes of all meals. Product labels and nutritional labels will also be maintained.
- The Head Cook is responsible for transporting milk from the Readlyn location to the Klinger location.
- The Head Cook will supervise student helpers in meal set-up, serving, and daily clean-up duties, when requested. Any behavioral concerns should be addressed by the Head Cook and communicated to the relevant teacher.
- The Head Cook will maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and all cooking utensils. This includes wiping down counters, stoves, and sinks; emptying garbage; and wet mopping the floor as needed, at least once a week. Periodic cleaning of cupboards, ovens, refrigerators, and freezers is necessary to meet cleanliness standards mandated by state and federal agencies. All kitchen areas will be thoroughly cleaned at the end of the school year to prevent pest infestations. Any spills will be cleaned immediately, with appropriate stain removal actions taken as necessary.
- The Head Cook will wash, dry, and return towels designated for school use.

- The Head Cook and Assistant Cooks (when available) will work collaboratively and strive for a unified approach in their responsibilities.
- The Head Cook must handle all school-related information about students, teachers, and parents with the utmost confidentiality.
- The Head Cook will follow all policies in the Faculty Handbook.
