Position: Community Living Staff
Join a team of staff enriching the life of a friendly, energetic young man with developmental disabilities in the Fremont area.
Work with another team member to provide support, companionship, and instruction to the supported adult. Provide housekeeping, cooking, laundry and other personal services and/or training, as needed.
Provide support for activities of interest to the person served, such as hiking, walking, reading together, playing games, and listening to or making music. Work with staff team to introduce new skills and community activities. Be observant, responsive and proactive at all times.
Part-time and Full-time available. Must work weekend daytime shifts. Can also work on weekday shifts. Shifts are 8AM - 1PM; 1PM - 9PM ; 9PM - 8AM. (Overnight shifts only available to staff after having worked daytime.) Also on call for fill in shifts.
Required:
Interest in working with adults with autism or other developmental disabilities
Cheerful, energetic, kind personality
Ability to think ahead and be proactive
Ability to observe and remain attentive to adult served
Experience with household duties such as cooking, cleaning and laundry
Able to stand, sit, and be mobile for most of work shift when needed
Able to walk 6 miles in a shift when needed
Able to provide personal care
Able to communicate and coordinate work with co-worker on shift
Able to use written tools for communication among team
Willing to work under the direction of parent managers and experienced staff
Willing to take and implement training in crisis prevention and intervention
High school diploma
At least 21 years of age
Pass a criminal background check
Provide 3 work references
Provide responsive communication, including during hiring process and when working
For overnight shifts, must be light sleeper and able to waken to provide active support if person served gets up
Preferred:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with adults with autism or other developmental disabilities
Knowledge and use of behavioral supports such as redirection and de-escalation
Knowledge of behavioral supports such as redirection and de-escalation
Training in and use of crisis intervention
Experience living independently and/or running a household
College degree or college studies, especially in psychology, speech or occupational therapy
Knowledge of healthy cooking
Hourly rates: $21-25/hour
Paid training with staff team in areas such as autism, psychology, development, behavioral management, crisis prevention and intervention as they relate to supported adult.

Location: Fremont/Union City area, safe neighborhood, walking distance from BART

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
