TITLE: ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR

BASIC FUNCTION: The incumbent will serve as a specialist in assistive technology, with an emphasis on providing acquisition and accessibility assistance to consumers. This role will conduct assistive technology device demonstrations, training, and presentations (for consumers, families, students, and providers) develop and coordinate AT fabrication efforts statewide, coordinate funded emergency plan activities for people with disabilities statewide, oversee Reuse subcontractor’s activities and prepare reports on statewide Reuse activities.

TECH OWL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide AT demonstrations to users/families/teams in SW Pennsylvania.
2. Develop emergency (AT) plans in collaboration with consumers and stakeholders.
3. Develop and coordinate collaborative AT fabrication efforts.
4. Design content and present pieces of training to consumers and other stakeholders.
5. Understand with detail the current needs and particularities of the assigned population of assistive technology users (i.e. physical and motor impairment, learning disabilities).
6. Strengthen Tech OWL’s involvement in the disability and older adult communities.
7. Travel independently regionally, statewide, and nationally, and transport, set-up and use devices and materials necessary to provide consumers support, device demonstrations, AT training and presentations.
8. Complete all necessary reports and data entry, meet established deadlines, assist with compiling reports from subcontractors for state and federal reporting.
9. Interact with subcontractors in the Reuse program to ensure contract compliance and quality outreach to Pennsylvanians with disabilities and older adults.
10. Contribute to program sustainability and expansion through participation in grant writing or other program activities.

CLASS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain database, coordinate donations, and distribute items for CLASS’ Reuse Program.
2. Provide demonstrations, presentations, and trainings to agencies and other stakeholders in order to promote and educate the community on assistive technology.
3. Provide information and referral regarding assistive technology devices, programs, and services.
4. Represent CLASS in the community, as requested.
5. Maintain contact with other organizations and agencies that provide assistive technology products and services.
6. Complete home modification assessments and submit report with recommendations.
7. Collaborate with and guide student AT interns, as needed.
8. Serve on CLASS committees, as requested.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Promote and support the overall mission of CLASS and Temple University Institute on Disabilities.
2. Engage with the public (including users of assistive technologies) using communication methods including but not limited to email, social media, internet, website, telephone, and video.
3. Complete all necessary reports, meet established deadlines, and assist with compiling reports for funders.
4. Actively participate as a staff member of the Institute on Disabilities by serving on committees as required and attending staff meetings and functions.
5. Perform other duties as required by CLASS and programs/activities of the Assistive Technology Team, Institute on Disabilities at Temple University.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. RESNA certification preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of and experience working with people with disabilities, assistive technology devices, understanding of mobility and accessibility issues.
2. Understanding of issues related to emergency plans and disabilities, community engagement, sustainable practices preferred.
3. Proficient computer skills required.
4. Positive and effective communication skills required.
5. Attention to detail and exceptional follow up skills required.
6. Critical thinking and independent judgement and decision-making skills required.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Have access to reliable transportation to travel independently. 2. Perform duties in a professional, mature, effective, discreet and efficient manner. 3. Be a self-directed, organized and responsible professional. 4. Respond to staff and participants in a tactful and professional manner. 5. Adhere to the policies established by CLASS and its relevant funding sources and Board of Directors. 6. Maintain positive working relationships with program director and co-workers. 7. Render and accept criticism in a professional manner. 8. Attend trainings related to job functions as required.

Physical Demands/Requirements
1. Ability to see and interact with text and graphical information on a screen.
2. Sit for extended periods with prolonged exposure to computer monitors.
3. Operate input/output devices to control a computer
4. Ability to receive and respond to phone calls.
5. Lift/move training materials that are approx.40lbs in weight.

Description of Work Environment/Conditions
1. Regularly travel primarily in the SW Pennsylvania region with some statewide overnight travel.
2. Regularly work in a climate-controlled office environment or another approved location
