What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yavapai Staff Attorney position at COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICES?
Community Legal Services is seeking a Staff Attorney to fill a position in its Yavapai County Office. The office focuses on a wide variety of civil legal matters, including housing (private and subsidized housing, foreclosures, fair housing, etc.), family law, public benefits (federal and state benefit denial appeals), consumer, and employment issues. The Staff Attorney will be expected to handle litigation in state and federal courts as well as administrative hearings. The Staff Attorney will be expected to conduct zealous strategic advocacy on behalf of clients, including impact affirmative litigation and community outreach. The Staff Attorney will be expected to demonstrate CLS’ core values – Humanity, Respect, Collaboration and Excellence at all times.
The qualified applicant must: have two (2) to five (5) years of experience in the practice of law[BR1.1]; be a member of the Arizona State Bar or eligible for admission pursuant to Ariz. R. Sup. Ct. 38(d); and have a demonstrated interest in ensuring meaningful access to justice for all, especially members of our community with low incomes, in the civil justice system by providing high-quality legal advice, advocacy and assistance. Litigation experience is preferred.
SALARY: Depending on licensure and experience; excellent benefits package, including 12 paid holidays; a generous PTO plan (vacation, sick and personal leave); health and dental insurance (95% employee - 70% dependents), disability insurance, malpractice insurance, educational loan assistance, 403b pension plan (base and matching contributions), bar dues payment, compensation for bilingual ability possible eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and more.
