What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower Elementary (TK-2nd) Teacher Pool 2026-2027 position at Community Learning Center Schools, Inc.?
We are a charter school in our 3rd year, expanding our K - 5 program, looking for innovative staff for a K/1 combo, 2/3 combo, 2nd grade self-contained, and a 3rd/4th/5th grade math class.
Mission Statement: The Nea Community Learning Center is an educational model that empowers all youth to take ownership of their educational experience, to celebrate their diverse community, and to actively participate as members of a democratic society.
In order to uphold our Mission Statement, “facilitators” must be innovative, flexible, collaborative, supportive of “learners”, and maintain open communication with parents/guardians.
At Nea, teachers are regarded as “facilitators”, and students are regarded as “learners”. Our philosophy is that by facilitating and guiding the learners through the learning process, they will and start to take ownership and responsibility for the learning. As a facilitator, we strive to do the following:
- Curriculum
- Possesses proficiency in subject matter as aligned to state standards
- Creates Curriculum Maps for each seminar for the year
- Sequences units logically
- Adjusts curriculum to meet the needs of learners
- Implements at least one major project per course per trimester/semester as outlined in the Project Based Learning protocol handbook
- Instructional Methodology
- Plans daily lessons and objectives that lead to mastery of key objectives
- Addresses the different learning styles of learners within the seminar
- Utilizes instructional technology on a weekly basis
- Differentiates curriculum to meet the needs of all learners
- Balances instruction to include a variety of learning opportunities through direct instruction, learner collaboration, learning stations, etc.
- Integrates study trips and seminar guests to expose learners to real-life context in order to enrich curriculum
- Learner Progress
- Develops/utilizes appropriate evaluation systems to monitor student progress towards meeting objectives
- Uses assessment data to drive instruction and curriculum
- Determines learner needs through the use of appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques
- Invites colleagues and/or specialized staff (Counselor, Resource Specialist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist) to effectively address learner needs
- Maintains complete and accurate records
- Updates online grade book by 1st and 3rd Sunday
- Updates facilitator web page re: seminars weekly by each Sunday eve or before the school day each Monday morning (or before the school day Tuesday in case of a Monday holiday)

- Keeps in-class and assigned hallway bulletin boards current with relevant learner work
- Facilitates learners to take responsibility and ownership for their learning and community

- Professional Development
- Actively participates in the evaluation process
- Utilizes professional development stipend for continued education
- Participates actively in weekly grade-level/whole school meetings and SST/IEP meetings as needed
- Attends staff development retreats held two Saturdays per year
