Property Management / Community Manager (Long-term growth with growing company)

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Community/Property Manager to assist our team in the day-to-day operations of our residential apartment community at Starboard Townhomes in Portsmouth, VA. We bought this property recently and have multiple renovations and projects going to make it a shining example of apartment living for the people who need it most. We have been hard at work partnering with City Officials to create a partnership in growing this community the right way. This role is ideal for a hands-on team member who understands leasing, resident relations, financial oversight, marketing, and leadership. The Community Manager and Assistant Community Manager are responsible for driving property performance while maintaining a positive resident experience and strong on-site culture..

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the apartment community
• Drive leasing activity, occupancy, and renewals
• Ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws and Virginia landlord-tenant regulations
• Handle resident concerns, escalations, and conflict resolution
• Oversee rent collections, delinquencies, and reporting
• Conduct regular property inspections to maintain curb appeal and safety
• Partner with maintenance on work orders, turns, and preventative maintenance
• Coordinate with corporate teams on payroll, HR, and operational reporting
• Supervise, train, and lead on-site leasing and maintenance teams
• Monitor budgets, expenses, and invoice approvals

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Customer Service Skills to increase tenant satisfaction and retention
• Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and other Fed/State based Tenant laws
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work occasional weekends or after-hours as needed
• Driver's license and Reliable Transportation for periodic work duties

Preferred:

• Experience using property management software (AppFolio preferred)
• Previous experience as a Community Manager or Assistant Community Manager
• Experience managing 150 unit communities
• Budgeting and financial reporting experience
• Ability to work occasional weekends or after-hours as needed

Schedule

• Full-time- Hourly (Manager = Salary)
• Monday–Friday 8-5 with some weekend and extended week day availability
• Work Location - On-site in the location listed above
