Duties
- Lead and implement daily activities tailored to the needs and interests of individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism.
- Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to encourage positive behaviors and emotional well-being.
- Collect data on participant progress and activity outcomes to inform care plans and program improvements.
- Facilitate communication using various methods, including American Sign Language when applicable, to ensure effective interaction.
- Provide safe transportation when necessary by driving participants to community outings or appointments.
- Support participants with medication administration, if needed, following prescribed protocols in compliance with safety standards.
- Document daily activities, behavioral observations, and incident reports accurately for ongoing assessment and reporting.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism in educational or community settings.
- Strong understanding of special education principles and inclusive practices.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to use American Sign Language if needed.
- Knowledge of behavioral health concepts and behavior management techniques to support positive development.
- Home & community care experience demonstrating caregiving skills in real-world settings.
- Ability to assist with ADLs effectively while promoting independence and dignity.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for safe transportation responsibilities.
- Compassionate caregiving approach combined with patience, flexibility, and active listening skills.
