What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Outreach Coordinator position at Community House on Broadway?
The position of Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with outside organizations for CORE Health and Community House on Broadway. The individual in this position represents CORE Health and Community House on Broadway to the community at large through the development and maintenance of relationships with key groups, external agencies and/or other interested parties.
In addition, the Community Outreach Coordinator also supports the organization’s volunteer program by recruiting volunteers, collecting applications, preparing the volunteer cook groups, developing volunteer opportunities and maintaining communication with volunteers, including providing reminders to cook groups.
Typical Duties
Builds and maintains relationships with members of the community, key individuals, churches and other organizations;
Advances the mission and goals of the organization by participating in events on behalf of the organization and completing project based tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, including the annual Cares Campaign;- Maintains commitment to living the Community House on Broadway's faith based Christian mission;
Generates appropriate volunteer opportunities and role description based on the needs of Community House;
Organizes community outreach events that will reach and promote community engagement. Works within a defined budget and maintains budget adherence;
Regularly participates in meetings with the Executive Director to discuss event spending, event success and upcoming events;
Processes new volunteer applications and ensures background checks, in coordination with security department, on each new potential volunteer is completed and passed prior to the volunteer’s start date;
Interviews potential volunteers and responds with a determination in a timely manner;
Directs donors of in-kind contributions (ex food, supplies) to appropriate site lead or program lead and coordinates as needed;
Keep adequate records of volunteers, including but not limited to, active food handlers cards, hours of service, volunteer start date, end date and the tasks completed;
Raise staff awareness concerning the role and function of volunteers;
Collaborates with appropriate supervisors pertinent to the volunteer projects;
Ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers;
Promote volunteering through recruitment and public campaigns;
Sets up cook groups in collaboration with supervisors and Kitchen Managers at Community House on Broadway locations based upon openings. Maintains regular communication with cook groups;
Monitor, support, motivate volunteers and their work;
Celebrate volunteers by having an annual appreciation event. Works within a defined budget and maintains budget adherence;
Complies with HIPAA and 42 CFR regulations;
Completes additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
At least three years of community outreach experience, preferred;
Knowledgeable of HIPAA and 42 CFR regulations;
Ability to work in a team based environment;
Holds an active Washington State Food Handlers card;
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at a time;
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
Ability to connect with community members.
