A local family is looking for a caring, energetic person to spend time with a wonderful young woman in their home on the north side of Stevens Point. This is a one-on-one position centered around companionship, recreation, and helping her enjoy the activities she loves.
She is a joyful young woman who loves music, outdoor walks, play, laughter, and spending time with people. She is blind and non-verbal and communicates in her own unique ways. Her personality shines through in her beautiful smile and the enthusiasm she brings to the people and activities around her.
The person in this role will help create fun, positive experiences throughout the week. You might listen to music together, go for a walk, play, explore different activities, or simply spend time enjoying each other's company. The goal is to encourage engagement, confidence, and independence while making each visit something to look forward to.
Hours & Pay
$16.66 per hour
- Approximately 4–20 hours per week
- Primarily afternoon and evening shifts
- Respite and occasional backup hours may also be available
- Schedule can be discussed based on your availability
What You'll Be Doing
This position is primarily focused on companionship and active engagement, with some limited caregiving responsibilities.
You may:
- Spend one-on-one time participating in games, music, walks, crafts, and other activities
- Encourage communication, social interaction, and participation
- Help create enjoyable and confidence-building experiences
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Assist with limited personal care, including brief (adult diaper) changes
- Provide assistance with feeding and medication routines when needed

About the Position
This is a direct-hire position through the family's self-directed support program. You will work directly for the family rather than an agency, providing individualized support in a home setting.
Community Horizons is assisting the family with the hiring process. A Support Broker will contact qualified applicants to discuss the position and next steps.
