What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Member (Direct Care Worker) position at Community Homes Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide a safe environment for the individuals you are serving. To engage individuals in a loving manner and be patient enough to receive love in return. You will be working in the individual’s home and must therefore respect their environment. When requested by the individual, Team Members will assist in any areas of daily living to promote to gentle teaching philosophies of being safe, engaged, loved and loving. Team Member responsibilities will involve all areas of the individual’s needs, encouraging their assistance at all times. Team Members will teach individuals to feel safe and loved, and to be loving toward others. The needs and preferences of the individuals we serve will be taken into consideration during the hiring process.
YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE INDIVIDUAL:
- Assuring a comfortable environment where individuals feel safe, part of the community, loved, loving and engaged.
- Reading, learning and adhering to each individuals’ Person Centered Plan.
- Assisting with self-care skills, i.e., dressing, bathing, etc.
- Supervising and participating in leisure activities and field trips, transporting individuals in company or personally owned vehicles.
- Implementation of and data collection for individuals’ home programs including their Person Centered Plan.
- Routine handling, dispensing and record keeping of individuals’ medications within established policies and guidelines.
- Food preparation according to established guidelines and menus.
- Routine property maintenance and housekeeping including general cleaning and laundry.
- Some individuals may have specific needs that go beyond the normal duties of a home care giver. These needs may include specialized behavior programs, medical care and/or lifting. Team Members will be given specialized training in these areas as needed. Once training is received, these duties will become the responsibility of the Team Member.
- It is the policy of Community Homes, Inc. to protect the personal rights of all individuals served. It is the responsibility of all Team Members to report any incident or situation that poses a threat to an individual’s health, safety or development to their Team Leader or to the CEO.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A commitment to serving the needs of the developmentally disabled within the rights afforded them as citizens
- A kind, compassionate and caring person of good moral character
- Successful completion of (or current) Entry Level Care Giver Training, Blood Borne Pathogens Training, First Aid and CPR Training within 60 days of hire
- A negative TB test
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation that will remain on-site during your shift and could be used in the event of an emergency
- Current, valid automobile insurance that meets minimum liability coverage set forth by the State of Michigan
- A working smart phone that meets the minimum requirements to operate the ADP Mobile Solutions App
*******$15.50/hr. wage is for full-time employment
