Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Community Home Health and Restorative Care (covering Maryville, MO and surrounding areas.)
Pay is based on per visit. Range is from $28.50 - $38.50 depending on visit type, plus mileage pay.
Organizational relationship: Reports to Clinical Manager
Job Summary:
Field LPN practices within the scope of nursing practice standards in collaboration with RN case managers/supervisors, teaches and educates patients and their families according to the established plan of care.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an LPN
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with home health
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
- Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Pass background screening
Responsibilities
- Record a patient’s medical history accurately
- Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc
- Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc
- Monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts
- Administer injections, clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks
- Collect samples for lab testing as assigned
- Complete charting in a timely manner
Special Equipment to be operated:
Vehicle to do routine patient visits, possible transfer/lifting devices, medical supplies.
Work Environment:
Indoors, performing patient care assessment/tasks in the patient’s residence. Travel to patient residences/meetings; will require transportation to get to various work sites. Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
Functional Abilities:
Able to access patient’s homes that may not be handicap accessible. Able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively in English.
Physical Requirements:
On a daily basis: walking, standing, sitting, reaching, use of telephone, use of computers & other office equipment, lifting/transferring 150lbs or greater, bending, stooping, climbing stairs.
